The trinomial cube is a classic Montessori sensory material that introduces children to three-dimensional solids and relationships between colors, shapes, and sizes. Later, it can also be used as a visual aid to help understand algebraic principles (e.g., the formula (a+b+c)3).
After laying the pieces out on a mat, you can first sort the cubes by color and size (largest, smaller, smallest) and then assemble the cube according to the template. While assembling, children naturally work with rules such as “color to color” and check the correctness of the result – once assembled, all sides of the cube should be uniformly colored.
