A group of poker players compete in a tournament where for many it’s about more than just chips. One-Eyed Jack Faro goes “all-in” to save his late grandfather’s casino-hotel from real-estate speculators. His last (and only) plan: win the most famous tournament in the world – the “Grand Championship of Poker” in Las Vegas.
Other participants include the amateur Andy Andrews, who doesn’t know much about poker, but thanks to luck achieves unexpected success, and a mysterious player nicknamed “the German”, whose real name no one knows and who motivates himself by killing small animals. Among the favorites besides Faro are also the professional Larry Schwartzman and Harold Melvin, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome and lives under the strong influence of his mother.
