The distinctive diesel-electric T 669 locomotive is based on a ČKD Praha design that was created from export orders for heavy shunting service. After successful prototypes and tests, series production followed, which—due to capacity constraints at the ČKD Praha plant—was moved to ZTS Dubnica. The T 669.1 class locomotives became an important part of large marshalling yards in Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union.
The PIKO model is built on a precisely made heavy frame of zinc die-cast metal and is fitted with a motor with two flywheels, ensuring smooth running, stability and tractive effort corresponding to the real prototype. Four axles are powered; traction tyres increase adhesion and are arranged diagonally. From the factory, the locomotive is equipped with a modern PSD XP sound decoder and a PluX22 interface for digital control.
